Analyst position at a business succession–focused investment company
- Company
- A business succession–focused investment company
- Job Description
-
■This company is a next-generation investment firm that invests in and supports the growth of high-quality privately held companies in Japan.
Backed by committed capital from some of the world’s leading financial institutions, the company has established a long-term–oriented investment model that is rare in the Japanese market.
By working closely alongside founders and management teams, the company supports sustainable growth while preserving each company’s intrinsic value and history.
Since its establishment, the company has acquired five portfolio companies within a short period and has built an investment track record across multiple industries.
The company remains in a strong growth phase and plans to continue expanding its investments and business succession transactions over the coming years. Joining at a stage close to the company’s founding provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and significant professional growth.

(1)Company Overview & Vision
The company is a business succession platform built on permanent capital (long-term hold capital), clearly distinguishing itself from traditional PE funds that assume a defined exit through sale.
Founding philosophy:
The company was established with the aim of solving challenges at a structural level and helping to counteract Japan’s declining population and economic strength.
Investment philosophy:
Rather than pursuing short-term resale, the company places emphasis on business succession that passes on the “spirit” of companies to the next generation.
(2) Investment Approach, Financial Structure & Outlook
Investment style:
The company is not structured as a conventional PE fund; instead, it acquires majority stakes as a holding company and pursues ultra-long-term investments.
Financing approach:
Rather than utilizing traditional LBO structures, the company raises debt at the holding company (HoldCo) level.
Exit strategy:
In principle, the company does not assume an exit following a buyout, although it maintains flexibility to respond to changing circumstances if necessary.
IPO plan:
The company is also targeting a public listing in approximately three years, with the next 1.5 to 2 years focused on building the necessary foundation.
(3) Talent & Organizational Structure
The company operates with a small, highly selective core team (currently approximately eight members).
Key leadership:
The firm is led by two co-founders with backgrounds in a leading global consulting firm and an independent investment bank.
They are supported by a Managing Director and a Director, both of whom previously worked at a private equity fund affiliated with a major Japanese trading house.
Flat organizational structure:
The organization is meritocratic and relatively flat, with examples of associates receiving salary increases or being promoted to director within six months based on performance.
(4) Compensation & Evaluation
Compensation structure:
Base salary plus performance-based bonus.
Work–life balance:
The company places a strong emphasis on efficiency, and overtime is extremely limited (reportedly around five hours per month on average).
■Position Overview
This position offers a rare opportunity to play a core role in building and scaling a new investment platform in Japan.
As an Investment Analyst, you will work closely with founding members who come from top-tier backgrounds such as investment banking, strategy consulting, hedge funds, and private equity. You will be involved in a wide range of activities, including deal sourcing, direct engagement with business owners, investment evaluation, and post-investment support.
The role places importance not only on analytical capability but also on relationship building and learning in the field, making it well suited for individuals who thrive in environments with a high degree of uncertainty.
■Why Join This Company
・Hands-on involvement in a long-term investment model that remains rare in Japan
・ Exceptional learning speed through close collaboration with founding members
・Exposure to the entire investment lifecycle, from sourcing to post-investment value creation
・An environment in which you can expand your responsibilities as the organization continues to grow rapidly
・ A culture that emphasizes integrity, trust, and long-term value creation
- Required Experience
-
Required experience:
At least approximately two years of professional experience in investment banking (IBD), strategy consulting, or management consulting.
Scope of responsibilities:
Responsible for the entire investment process on a start-to-finish basis, from sourcing and execution to post-M&A integration (PMI).
English proficiency:
As the firm has many overseas MBA holders and manages global capital, conversational to business-level English proficiency is preferred.
Business acumen / presence:
Candidates should demonstrate the intangible sense or aura that they are capable of successfully leading and growing a business.
Self-driven mindset:
Rather than simply following a predefined career ladder, candidates are expected to have the internal drive to think independently and take initiative.
0-to-1 experience:
Experience in identifying challenges and executing solutions independently, not limited to business contexts (e.g., proactively creating opportunities while studying abroad).
Grounded edge:
While strong capability is assumed, the firm values individuals who are not fixated on a glamorous career path and are willing to engage earnestly with the practical challenges faced by regional and small- to medium-sized enterprises in Japan. - Salary
